What God Wants, but Most Preachers Never Teach About!
I know some will want to flak me for this, but frankly it’s truth and it needs to be told.
Did you realize that God himself declared His purpose for man and that He’s been repeating it for thousands of years now? It’s pretty amazing, let us examine further:
In the Old Testament:
2Kings 17:13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
Jeremiah 18:8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
Jeremiah 18:10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
Jeremiah 25:5 They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
Jeremiah 26:3 If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
Jeremiah 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
Ezekiel 14:6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Zechariah 1:4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.
In the New Testament:
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Luke 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts 14:15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
My point here is, when and where is it being preached? I’ve been to many churches throughout the west and southeast coasts of the US, listened to hours upon hours of preaching streamed over the net and it’s sad to say, the key to God’s will (repentance unto the forgiveness of our sins) is rarely taught, let alone the rest of the meat in God’s Word.
We all fall short, so it’s not even up for debate that we all sin. So if we continually sin (being prone to it while in the flesh), then we have need to wipe the slate clean every now and again, if not at every occurrence of this plague of the flesh.
We hear all kinds of preaching about “come on down to the alter and get saved“, “let Jesus into your heart“, “be born again!” and again you hear even more mundane and vague sermons like, “Once saved, always saved!“, “Just believe!“, and “Just sow your seed in us and God will give you a bountiful harvest!“. It’s so ridiculous today that these false preachers and lovers of men more than lovers of God are taking over the airwaves of the Christian broadcasting networks.
If all God wants is for us to repent of our evil ways and listen to His Word, why wouldn’t we just do that? It seems like a pretty clear call and consistent theme throughout the Word.
I’ll tell you why: because the message is all garbled up with the traditions of men, and these traditions are like a veil placed over the saving arms of the Father who created our souls. You can read of this kind of covering and what God thinks of it here:
Ezekiel 13:17 Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them, 18 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you? 19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly. 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: 23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
The charge is pretty serious, and frankly it’s high time we all get to checking out what people say instead of just going with the flow of opinions, propaganda and hate. Spread the good word; the gosepel of a risen Christ is a promise of eternal life in righteousness for those who believe on Christ and repent of their error and folly.
When the time comes for the white throne judgment all shall answer for those things beside their names in the Book of Life, the true record, kept up to date by our Father from the foundations of the world. When you truly repent, He blots out the sin and it is forgiven. Without Christ as the sacrifice, we would have run out of livestock many years of go offering up sin offerings for the world.
I hope you got some value and perspetive on God’s will and the purpose of His Christ here. Thanks for reading!

Continued from previous post
There are false prophets in our world, for sure and the bible teaches that there will be however, there are also those that are truly teaching the practicality of the bible and how it ties in with the most important point of repentance. God bless, keep up the God work

Josh, once again, great insight and wisdom shared here. While I totally agree on the fact that many preachers and churches do not teach these things, we are taught that Jesus told Nicodemus except a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom, Romans teaches us that if we should confess with our mouth and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we shall be saved, so I believe there is a place to pastors encouraging people to be born again and to be saved. Scripture teaches us that he gave SOME to be pastors, some to be evangelists, some to be teachers etc. so there is a place "positions." I think it is important though that we also learn and are taught everything of the bible in the light of repentance which I have seen and believe many pastors and churches are doing. What I mean is, we must learn how the bible applies to us and what we must do once we do repent, HOW do we walk in love, what does it mean to submit to authority, what does it mean when Jesus said "I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly," and how do we learn to trust an "invisible God" in times of trials while we live the life in this world.

Hey Josh. Guess I’m lucky to be in a church where this is mentioned all the time. I know our pastor personally and he says his toughest topic is giving offerings and tithe. Homosexuality is also a pretty hot button topic. I don’t think any one particular sin should get its own ’sermon’ because they are all part of a huge cauldron of filth. Which, as you have pointed out, need to be removed from our lives constantly.
Anyways, keep up the good work and proclaim the Word of God boldly.

Great sharing Tom! Thanks for joining my on my blog
I totally agree with the topics you’ve added, and I’m sure we could find hundreds more.
I hope you got the overall message though – virtually noone is teaching the Word of God chapter by chapter and verse by verse so the people can hear and do according to His will (which is that all should repent and love him).
While there are a variety of ways God likes to deal with us and His other children, the fact is that unless you go read the bible for yourself you are not likely to be spiritually fed from church alone.
Thanks again, I look forward to more discussion!
By the way, what is your take (according to God’s word) on the topics you mentioned there?

I agree repentance for forgiveness of sins is a tough topic to tackle from any pulpit even at church, never mind at home, play and work. It is my humble opinion that the holy spirit will lead his own to repentance for forgiveness of sins and he does it in a most gracious fashion. Most of the time it’s me he has dealings with rather than the thing that frustrates me.
I’d also like to add to your list of topics that aren’t covered from most pulpits but should be from a biblical and grace perspective:
predestination
homosexuality
winsomely sharing Christ

Joshua,
Thank you for the invitation to post. I can see you have a hunger for God’s Word.
Your post on May 5 shows a passion for the Word of God, a hunger which the Father uses to draw you to the unveiling of His great mystery kept secret since the world began. Rom 16:25
God’s purpose for mankind was a mystery hidden throughout the ages revealed by God in God’s timing for God’s glory. Yes, you rightly discern “He’s been repeating it for thousands of years now”. However, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.
Jesus said “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26
God has revealed the mystery of His purpose to the born again believer through His Spirit. “For the Spirit searches all things, yes even the hidden depths of God’s purposes.” (1 Cor 2:10)
For no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of God makes known to you the things that have been freely given to you by God 1Co 2:11-12
The natural man cannot discern what God has freely given to you, nor does he receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned by those who are spiritual who have received the mind of Christ. 1Co 2:14-16. And such you are as born again believer.
The mystery is simple and different from every other religion in the world. Most religions of the world have a supreme being, a problem and their solution that requires your personal effort. The difference is their gods can only be please or appeased by their actions and sacrifices. Here is where God’s mystery differs. the Supreme Being is God Almighty, the problem is sin and the answer is love so great that the Son of God, Jesus Christ died for the ungodly. Rm 5:6 God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rm 5:9. For God made Christ who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Co 5:21
Christ sacrificed his life’s blood to set you free, so you have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of your sins, according to the great riches of His grace, making known unto us the mystery of His will, and make known to you the secret plan He had already decided to complete by means of Christ, all according to his good pleasure and undeserved mercy. Eph 1:7, 9 Yes, it pleased the Father through Christ to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. Col 1:19-20 And you at one time, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, who were dead in trespasses and sins, far away from God and were his enemies, walking according to the dictates of the spirit of prince of the power of the air– the kingdom of darkness. He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight. Col 1:21-22
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, so it isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about. Eph 2:8-9. ONLY GOD Who reached down to you with His Free Gift of Grace, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord can reveal the mystery to you and invite you take accept His free gift offered to you.
The Judgement seat of Christ is where the saints will stand to receive their rewards. The Great White Throne is the seat of judgement for all who do not accept God’s free gift. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Jn 3:16
You know the message of the gospel, hopefully these messages posted in your blog will plant and/or water the Good News of reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ, which God will give the increase. We are God’s representatives that He has committed the message of reconciliation, as though He were pleading through us on Christ’s behalf – Be reconciled to God!” 2Co 5:19-20
